Week One!
The amount of panic that I normally feel when I go through a door and there's another person within twenty feet was probably twice as bad this week. But it was worth it, because I succeeded in my mission. When we entered Kenney for PE yesterday, I held the door for an unnamed person (whose name sounds like "mojo" but with a "j"), and I received probably the most common response when holding the door for a Uni student: "thanks, I didn't have my prox card." It was a nice moment, an amusing capper to a fun on-our-way-to-Kenney conversation, but nothing particularly special. Often, though, good days and good lives are made up of non-particularly-special nice moments.
I also want to talk about another moment later that day. I was leaving Uni and almost did the thing I described in my first post where you just push the door open a little extra so the person behind you can slip through. But remembering my promise to y'all, I did an honest-to-goodness holding of the door for a student whose name I don't know. And they hesitated before walking through. I can't tell if they were planning on exiting or hanging out just inside the door, but they went through the door, possibly solely out of awkwardness and politeness (a move I would fully understand). I'm not totally sure what to make of that moment, or whether anything should be made of it, but note to self: beware Blog Post Panic turning a moment of convenience into one of inconvenience for both parties.
It was a pretty good week overall, and I hope it was for you, too. See you next time when maybe something more eventful will have happened!
Haha, I am sure Mojo-with-a-J appreciated it.
